Ruined it with good looks.
Looks pretty. Thats it. Big pictures in the menus and smooth GUI makes it feel like a proper app.
However, the menus are poorly designed. All of the newer items are near the top. That means if Ive been using the app often and have seen all of the newer things, I have to scroll down! The more Ive seen, the further I have to scroll down! Have the app designers actually tried using this? Do they even follow HSW podcasts? There are hundreds of episodes for certain shows and most people start with the newest first!
Not to mention each menu item is now three times as big and has a fancy picture which takes time and bandwidth to load. Scrolling to the bottom has never been so time consuming and tedious. Especially in the car. Yes, it was a similar method with the old app but at least that loaded quickly and had a compact, efficient menu.
Also this new app mixes video podcasts with audio.
This makes the list EVEN longer!
Add a filter or something!!!!
I dont need video in the car! Red lights are no longer long enough to choose the next episode. Add an audio only filter option please.
A feature that the new version and old version could have benefitted from is an "already watched" icon or something. I realize that might require one to login but it would definitely help. A playlist function that plays only the things you havent heard/seen yet would be nice.
Most of the advertising is done through the actual podcasts and videos themselves. So I dont see why the menus had to get fancier.
Yeah. It looks good and the media player itself seems to be less buggy than before but still, Id trade it for the old version in a heartbeat.
Keep on it guys.
